Giving You and Your Child a Better Tomorrow

Hello and welcome to my website. I am Dr. Sue, a mother, psychologist,
professor and National parenting expert in childhood TRAUMA. I have made it
my life's passion to help traumatized children become confident
successful individuals.

As parents, we sometimes do not know where to turn when our child becomes
traumatized. We want to take away our child's pain but we are not always
sure which path to follow.

If you have a child that has suffered from trauma and you find yourself
asking, "How could this happen to my child?" or "How will I get myself, my  family and child through this terrible time?" You are in the right place.

When tragedy strikes it can shatter your and your children's world. As a parent, you may begin to  see a different child than you once knew. He or she begins to withdraw, act out and struggle with their self esteem.  These are all common responses when a child is hurting.

Trauma does not only affect a child. It often affects the whole family system.  I am hear to help you "Move Beyond the Trauma."  I know that sometimes, what is happening in the moment seems like it will be that way forever.  Please know that time does heal and that children can move forward from trauma and lead very successful lives.

Warmly,
Dr. Sue

Who is Dr. Sue? How Can She Help You?

Dr. Sue is a clinical psychologist , professor of psychology at Temple University and a National expert in foster care and child abuse. She began her career in the field of foster care. It was there that  Dr. Sue learned how to connect with abused children through building a safe, trusting relationship with each child she counseled.

Sometimes in life your passion finds you! That’s what happened to Dr. Sue 12 years ago. She walked into a facility that provided therapy to foster children and walked out feeling inspired to educate parents and professionals about how to empower children to be successful in life.

For Dr. Sue, it was the most rewarding work that she had ever done and  catapulted her into writing and publishing a training manual last year entitled,  “The Ambiguous Foster Child: Attachment, Separation, Loss & Loyalty.” The manual has received national recognition and is used for trainings at several  child welfare facilities throughout the country.

Dr. Sue's passion is to make a difference in the lives of all children by educating parents and  professionals in how to help children succeed in life. She is an advocate not only for your children but for you as well!

Dr. Sue is a regular contributor to Foster Focus Magazine, Parents Express  Magazine, and Examiner.com, where she is the National Foster Care/Adoption Expert and writes a weekly column on pertinent issues relating to foster care  youth and child abuse. She is also the National spokes person for the Child Development Program "Complete Child Development" which is a self esteem program for parents and children based on the famous book. "The Secret."

Dr. Sue has been honored by The Child Welfare League of  America for her work in foster care. She was also honored this year as "Woman of the Week" in Philadelphia for her work with underprivileged children. She is a trainer for the Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth and Family Services and travels throughout the country speaking at conferences about her work.
